In 1923, President Harding and his wife came west to dedicate a portion of the old Oregon Trail. At the ceremony, local chiefs presented the first lady with a Pendleton shawl inspired by the famous Chief Joseph Blanket. One of the most popular Pendleton designs, this version is offered with oatmeal background, motifs in taupe and accents in shades of terra cotta, soft gold and sage green.
The Pendleton Reserve Oxford is hand-knotted with approximately 80 knots to the square inch. We use high quality New Zealand wool and colorfast Swiss Chrome dyes to produce a rug that will provide beauty and durability for your lifetime. The wool is handspun, yielding varying diameters, so that when dyed a delightful variegated color is achieved, giving the completed rug a richness and subtle blend of colors.
